Editing or Deleting an Assessment
Overview
You can update an assessment’s name, date, linked standards, and description at any time. Deleting an assessment removes it and all student ratings associated with it, which affects computed mastery scores for every linked standard.
Editing an assessment
- Open the course.
- Click the Assessments tab.
- Click the assessment you want to edit.
- Click Edit in the top-right corner of the assessment detail page.
- Update any of the following fields:
- Name — the assessment title as it appears in the gradebook.
- Date — the date of the assessment. This is optional but helps keep assessments in order.
- Standards — the standards this assessment is linked to. Adding or removing standards changes which columns appear for this assessment in the gradebook.
- Description — any notes or context about the assessment.
- Click Save.
Changing which standards are linked to an assessment does not delete existing ratings. Ratings for a standard that you remove from the assessment are preserved but will no longer appear in the gradebook for that assessment. Adding a standard creates a new empty column where you can record ratings.
Deleting an assessment
- Open the course.
- Click the Assessments tab.
- Click the assessment you want to delete.
- Click Delete in the top-right corner of the assessment detail page.
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog that appears.
Deleting an assessment permanently removes it and all student ratings recorded for it. This cannot be undone. Each affected student’s computed mastery score for the linked standards will be recalculated without those ratings.
